Welcome to Adventrues in Spain: My Two and a Half Month Travel Diary

Hola Todos!

This summer I'll be spending two and a half months studying and interning in Spain-- first 6 weeks studying Spanish at the University of Salamanca followed by 4 weeks interning with Fundacion por la Justicia in Valencia-- and I could not be more excited!

Salamanca is a relatively small city in the western part of Spain, close to the Spanish- Portuguese boarder. It is the capital of the providence of Salamanca in the region of Castile and Leon. Salamanca is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe-- La Universidad de Salamanca. La Universidad de Salamanca is the oldest university in Spain, and the fourth oldest in all of Europe. I will be taking classes in Spanish at the university for the first six weeks of my trip. I am enrolled in Spanish Grammar and Communication, Intro to Spanish Literature, and Spanish Art. Two out of the three should be fun and interesting to study! (I can't say much for grammar, but it was required, so what are you gonna do?) While in Salamanca, I will be living with a host family within walking distance of the university, which will allow me to be fully immersed in the Spanish lifestyle.

After my six weeks in Salamanca are over, I will travel to Valencia to intern with the nonprofit human rights organization Fundacion por la Justicia. Valencia is the third largest city in Spain, behind Madrid and Barcelona. It is located on the Mediterranean Sea, and I have to say, one of the things I am most excited about is the chance to live by the beach! I will be working Monday though Friday during the day, although I am not yet sure of the exact work hours, and I will be taking Spanish lessons two or three days in the evening. Other than that, I will be free to explore the city!

I will try and post at least once a week to keep you updated on all my adventures while I'm in Spain. T-minus 15 days until I embark on my journey!!!

Hasta Luego!
